Kirkletham Museum is a local history museum in Redcar. They are fortunate enough to have a wonderful collection of Anglo-Saxon objects which were excavated at a nearby archaeological site. It is thought that some of the items belonged to a high status woman and it was her, known as the Loftus Princess, that I was asked to depict. The museum already had a series of large interpretation panels done some time ago in the style of a comic strip and featuring two dragon characters. These panels would be kept and so my brief was to create three further panels that would complement the original ones. I was asked to illustrate the Princess and the very rare 'bed burial' in which she was discovered, using the dragon characters to ask and answer questions.
